Alan Beattie

Alan Beattie is the international economy editor at the Financial Times, based in Washington. In this role, he leads the FT’s coverage of global economic and trade issues, including development, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Previously, Beattie served as world trade editor for the FT, a position he took up in 2004. He has also served as Washington-based international economy correspondent, as well as economics correspondent in London, where he reported on the UK, European and global economy. After obtaining a Masters degree in economics from the University of Cambridge in 1996, Beattie began his career as an economist at the Bank of England.
